Masters riders are those defined by the UCI as either 30 years or 35 years of age and over (depending on discipline). Masters participation at cycling events in Canada is continually on the rise, and Cycling Canada is proud to offer national titles in various Masters age categories. There are also many opportunities for top performing masters to put their skills to the test at World Championship events across most cycling disciplines, including:
- Road (Gran Fondo World Championships)
- Mountain Bike (XCO & DH)
- BMX Racing
Please note that permission letters from the National federation are required for Canadian riders competing outside of Canada or the USA.
Cycling Canada is not involved in the selection of participants for this event and does not have specific requirements in place. It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure he/she is eligible to compete, has a valid UCI license and is compliant with anti-doping regulations. We invite you to pay close attention to the technical guide of the event, published by the organizer.
Gran Fondo World Championships
Riders may qualify to compete in the Gran Fondo World Championships via their final placing at either the Canadian Masters Road Championships or a Gran Fondo World Series event. Given the fact that there are two UCI GFWS qualifier events in Canada, Cycling Canada will not be distributing wildcards for participation in other events.
For information on Gran Fondo World Series qualifiers in Canada, or the Canadian Masters Road Championships, please see the Cycling Canada events calendar. A unique race kit design has been created specifically for riders participating in the finale (and other Masters events where a national team kit is required). Kits can be ordered here.
*Please note that it is not possible for participants to compete in the national team skinsuit used by the Canadian National Team.
